SETTING UP FORZA EMUWHEEL |
FAQ |
1. Make sure you're running the Fall Creators Update on Windows 10 (Build 16299.xx) or later.
2. Download and install latest build of vJoy device driver from here. 3. Run Configure vJoy and set it up like this: 4. Download latest version of Forza EmuWheel and extract the contents of the archive.
5. Run Configurator.exe and assign axes and buttons, using "SET" button for the corresponding bind. 6. Click "Save config" which will generate "configuration.json" file needed for Forza EmuWheel to run. (For editing an existing configuration, you can always click "Load config" and point to the location of current configuration.json"). 7. Launch Hush and click "Mute" to mute your devices. You can always revert back by running Hush again and clicking "Unmute". 8. Run Forza EmuWheel and click "Start". 9. Launch any Forza Game and create custom mappings for Forza EmuWheel. |
Q: Why is my wheel not balanced (e.g. turns easier to left or right or has a tendency to turn to either left or right on it's own)?
A: This is caused by incorrect phase value for vibrations. Correct value can be determined by doing the following: make sure vibration is set to 100 in-game, adjust magnitude and other settings to your preference, go on track, stop the car in grass and initiate a turn . Inertia should cause wheel to rotate after you release it. The rotation caused by inertia should be equal when the wheel rotates to left and right. if it is not, adjust phase value (0.00 - 1.00), restart Forza EmuWheel and try again. If the wheel rotates more freely to opposite direction after you adjusted value, it means that the value is changed to much. Choose a value that is between the initial value and the changed value and repeat this procedure until you achieve a perfectly balanced wheel. Q: Why can't I bind my accelerator and brake pedals in Configurator? When trying to bind both, I get a message about duplicate binding. A: Your pedals are in combined axis mode, which means that they share the same axis. If possible, enable separate pedal mode in control panel of your device. If there is no such option, instead of binding to Throttle and Brake axis separately, bind one of your pedals to Combined Throttle / Brake axis (Note that when using pedals in combined mode, accelerator and brake inputs cancel each other out, which means you can not interact simultaneously with both of them. Pressing both of them at the same time will result in no input). Q: Why does game menu items change on their own even when I'm not interacting with my devices? A: This happens when one or more devices is sending unwanted input. To determine the problematic axis, use the default controller profile, go in game world and bring up telemetry menu. When not pushing pedals, their value should be 0% (100% for clutch if you have "manual with clutch" enabled in difficulty options). If the values are not exactly 0% you need to add deadzone in Forza EmuWheel Configurator by loading configuration and specifying deadzone for the problematic axis (example: if telemetry reads 4% for throttle axis when the pedal is not pushed, you should add 5% deadzone (0.05) in Configurator to compensate for this). If value is closer to 100%, the axis needs to be inverted. Load your configuration and check the checkbox for the axis you want to invert. Q: Why can't i bind my controls in custom profile? When I try to make custom profile as soon as I initiate the bind detection, the game reads either LT, RT or RS Up. A: See answer to previous question. Q: Why is my wheel rotating either to left or right when it should center? Car is uncontrollable and force feedback seems incorrect. A: Invert Force Feedback in game options. Q: Why is my XBOX 360/One (or any XInput controller) still recognized by game even if it is muted? A: This is known limitation. Currently there is no way to properly mute XInput devices and they will remain visible to Forza games and potentially cause issues with Forza EmuWheel. Avoid using XInput devices for now or if absolutely necessary use software like Hid Guardian to hide XInput devices from certain apps (not implemented for Forza EmuWheel yet, visit support chat for more info). |
